Weighing In - Week Three

For “Weighing In”, you should post the following things: (1) your weight loss, maintenance or GAIN (yes, own up to it if it's true) for the past week (2) your personal goal for the rest of the week (try to restrict it to one) and (3) your anticipated non-food reward for achieving that goal. Since it seems we are all choosing to weigh-in on Tuesdays, I will create a post for every new week the day before we weigh-in (Monday). This would be a good post to add encouraging words for other individuals as well.

Dad says: I lose one lb. It was a lot harder than I thought.

Hi everyone! I'm in a happy mood today even though I must report a weight gain of 1 lb, bringing my weight now to 214. Yikes! Anyway, I started out awesome the first three days, but then I got a horrible horrid cold and nothing was going to make me feel even a teensy better except some food. I fought it for one day, but the next day I fell off the wagon. Feeling frustrated, I am starting the "Lemonade Diet" today to jumpstart my weight loss program. I do plan to try using the Weight Watchers point system again once I detox and "get in the weight loss groove".

I AM A FAILURE... but not really. Here's why: I am quite pleased to report a 3/4 lb loss! However, according to my "goal" from last week, I failed. I committed a sin against weight loss when I attempted to schedule a certain loss for the week. I forgot, you are never supposed to hinge a reward based on an amount you intend to lose because YOU CANNOT CONTROL HOW MUCH YOU LOSE each week. The factors you can control are things like what you eat or do to exercise, how much you eat or exercise, where you eat, etc. That's why I succeeded when my goal was to "follow the twenty minute rule" and failed to "lose two pounds". I am perfectly content with this successful week, and have learned a valuable lesson. My goal for this week is to not have any more than a single serving size of cereal a day. If I succeed in that goal, I will reward myself with a game of putt-putt before the summer ends.

Hi guys,

So I succeeded with my goal of realigning my thought processes and sticking to the plan. It worked!! A few times I found it to be a little rough, but I will post about that in the "gripes" section. Overall I lost 3 pounds last week. And I slipped one day. So although one day was really high, I still accounted for every point. AND...I DIDN'T THROW OUT THE PLAN because I already "cheated" like I normally do. I still made it work! My goal for next week is to cut down on my 100 cal packs. I tend to eat one a day and that's really an empty 2pts. Instead I plan to eat my fruit, which I have been lacking lately. My reward is this necklace I have been wanting from Avon :)

I weighed in at 196, a 3 lb loss. So, I have 1 lb to go to reach my 12 week goal. (I did bad math before, I previously posted I needed 3 more lbs, but it was really 4). I'm very pleased and excited to be so close. I have 1 week left.

I did not do so well on journaling. I did great until the weekend. I went camping and I just didn't do it because i was too busy having fun. Boo for me.

However I'm worried about this next week. I'm having my wisdom teeth pulled today, so my diet will be wierd for the next week or so. Hopefully my body doesn't go into fasting mode and save every calorie I eat. *sigh*
This week I want to focus on not getting dry sockets....Weight loss will have to wait.

Congrats to you losers!! I AM IMPRESSED!! Lindsay: the "fasting mode" idea is a myth. I went on the Weight Watchers site in the "scientific section" and there is an article about it there. It basically says that, "Yes, your metabolism will slow down some, BUT if you are still taking in less calories you WILL lose weight." I plan to read more in that WW science section!!

Thanks for that, April. It definitely makes me feel better! Good to know!

So Linds, how'd the wisdom teeth pulling go for you? (I would call, but I don't have a phone) What have you been eating? Does your mouth feel okay? When I had mine pulled, they gave me vicadin and I puked incessantly... it was a bad experience. Hope you're okay.
