I am worried about Miracle Whip dressing. I am about to make a tuna fish sandwich. The WW book says 1 tbsp. is only 1 point, but if I use the "Pointsfinder" thingamajiggy you gave me, it calculates to approximately 3-1/2 points! What do you think?

I would go with the point counter reading instead of the book. I myself am a big fan of tuna, but we can't eat the regular Miracle Whip dressing :*( Also I'm not a fan of the fat free (I think it's tasteless) so I buy the light Miracle Whip. I think it's like a point a serving or something. You might want to double check that. Anyway the taste is still a little bland so I usually add some diced green onions (or onion powder) and some celery salt. This really helps add some flavor to the tuna. Hope you like...

Sara, I love your ideas and I'm putting those things on my shopping list right now!!

Both light and fat free Miracle Whip is 1 point per Tbs, and the fat free totally SUCKS, so go with the light! Love your idea about adding onion and salt; I will try that, too.

My question is, what are everyone's favorite spices to cook with? I'm so sick of the same old flavors, but I want to keep spices/marinades/etc. at 0 points.

Also, I get really sick about half the time I eat four or more servings of lettuce in a day. Does a large amount of lettuce (any kind) make anyone else sick? How do you deal with it if it does?

I have never eaten that much salad at once, so I have no help for that. Are you turning into a rabbit? Ha.

As for marinades, i like to mix apple cider vinagar with yellow mustard for pork chops (you could serve with applesauce for a fruit serving, but get the sugar free.

For salmon, I like to make a glaze of the sugar free pancake syrup with yellow mustard.

YES...salad hurts me!! I won't go into the details, but it's not fun! So Kristen, eat more food!! My favorite spices are the chili powder and ancho chili powder. You don't need a lot because it can get pretty spicy. I also like the Mrs. Dash spices. They come in all sorts of flavors. The other thing I use a lot of are the flavored pastes in a tube. You can get pesto, sun dried tomato, garlic etc. Anyway I add about a tablespoon or two to chicken stock and then I saute my chicken. It's delicious!! This is also a great flavored sauce to throw over pasta :) Another standby favorite is lemon pepper, ginger and teriyaki rubs. I love spices and could probably go on forever so I will spare you the lengthy chat. But I will say that Penzey spices are BY FAR the best. They last longer (because you use less) and they taste better. Kristen, I think you have a store in Grand Rapids, which we will be going to next time I visit :) Everyone else, you can order online...it's worth it!!

hmm...the salmon recipe sounds yummy!! I sometimes do a sweetened balsamic vinegar salmon. Or I will use the syrup with dijion mustard. I bet the yellow mustard would be less "mustardy" and taste better. I will have to try that...

oh..I forgot to tell you my favorite marinade!! Take some Balsamic vinegar and a few sprays of pure oil cooking spray and mix that together until it looks good (it will separate). Then add some fresh chopped garlic and a seasoning of choice. I usually just go original mrs. dash or pepper. And that's it. It's pretty much free and it tastes great. My favorite is to use this marinade for fresh peppers and zucchini/squash, but I will say fish and chicken are incredible too :)

I don't eat much lettuce because I prefer spinach for my salads. I detest cooked spinach, but eaten raw in a salad, it really has no taste at all! And it's so good for you! Lettuce makes Karl sick, but he has no trouble with spinach so he enjoys spinach salads too.
